As we reflect upon the life of Jesus through study and regular prayer, our amazement and our desire to be near him grows. Mary, his mother, the New Eve, is the creature who is closest to him. Like all souls in heaven, Mary is alive, and she prays for us. Part of how we draw near to Jesus and emulate him is to draw near to Mary and emulate her. In praying the Rosary, we meditate upon things that Jesus and Mary said and did while alive on Earth. We seek to learn from them and be changed by them. We seek to imitate what is contained in, and obtain what is promised by, the mysteries of the Rosary. It is a tremendous act of love.
